1 km away from the coast, the islet of Vila Franca do Campo was formed as a result of a submerged volcanic crater. Today, the area is classified as a Natural Reserve and it delights with its lush endemic vegetation, the cerulean natural lake and the seashore landscapes.
There is a small, beautiful sandy beach that provides entertainment for children and adults alike, not to mention it is excellent for swimmers and divers.
Everybody knows volcanic landscapes are breathtaking and Vila Franca do Campo makes no exception.
Moreover, the forests that surround the town are home to a wide variety of seabirds as well as luxuriant vegetation.
