Description of the Cha Gorreana trail

Category: Circular
Difficulty: Easy
Distance: 6 KM
Medium time: 2 h

The small circular Cha Gorreana trail starts and ends at the Gorreana Tea Factory.

Cautiously cross the regional road towards the gate access to the tea plantation and then go straight until you find the indication sign to turn left.

This is the upward part of the route that develops on a dirt trail through the tea plantation.

About 1,200 meters after the start of the route will go over a bridge in stone. The pasture starts to take the place of tea and forests.

About 450 meters further you will see on your right a set of buildings for agriculture. Go on, again accompanied by tea and then pasture.

After going through a cedar wood, turn left towards the highest point of the route. Shortly after you will find some cattle troughs on the right.

After another 100 meters, at the highs of the grassland, turn right and head to the house of the Casa do Mirante, a building which is now in ruins and from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of much of the north coast of the island, from the Pico da Vara, to the east, to the Ribeirinha to the northwest. Below you will admire the tea plantations and the factory of Gorreana.

Go back the same way and at the end of this section, there is a sign to turn left across a pasture. Follow with the cedar wood, skirting pasture to get back on the road, where you should turn left.

After 200 meters, near an old farming, go to your left on a path that will lead you to the entrance to the tea plantation.

The final part of the trail is inside the plantation, to go again to the regional road.

At the end of the trail visit the Gorreana Tea Factory where you can regain your strength with a tea of your choice.
